July 01 Salamanca (guide). This ancient university town north-west of Madrid was first conquered by the Carthaginians in the 3rd century B.C. It then became a Roman settlement before being ruled by the Moors until the 11th century. The university, one of the oldest in Europe, reached its high point during Salamanca's golden age. The city's historic center has important Romanesque, Gothic, Moorish, Renaissance and Baroque monuments. The Plaza Mayor, with its galleries and arcades, is particularly impressive.

July 30 Costa Braca / Tossa de Mar. Day trip of La Costa Brava. We will drive straight to Tossa de Mar, home to the last remaining preserved fortified town on the Costa Brava Coast. You have the option to stay on the beach , or leave the sand for a walk up to the lighthouse along cobbled streets with the ever present backdrop of the Costa Brava coastline completing your view. From the lighthouse on top of the hill, you'll wander back down through the old town before dropping into a maze of narrow streets lined with traditional whitewashed houses and shops.
